In the first quarter of 2025, the travel and local app sector on Android in Costa Rica showcased intriguing trends. Data from Sensor Tower highlights the performance metrics of the top five apps in this category.

Airbnb saw its weekly downloads start at around 3.6K, gradually declining to 2K by mid-March. However, weekly active users maintained a robust presence, peaking at approximately 100K in January before settling around 93K by the end of the quarter.

The Hostelworld: Hostel Travel App experienced a significant drop in downloads from 7.9K at the start of January to just under 100 by the end of March. Active users decreased from 13.2K to 4.5K during the same period.

Instabridge: WiFi Hotspot Map maintained steady downloads, ranging from 1.5K to 1.2K weekly. A minor revenue spike occurred in late February, reaching nearly $90. Active user numbers remained stable, fluctuating around 19K.

Booking.com: Hotels & Travel downloads saw a decline from 2.7K to just over 1K. Despite this, active users remained strong, peaking at 51K in January before decreasing to 39K by March's end.

Google Earth maintained a consistent download rate around 1.3K weekly. Active users increased steadily throughout the quarter, ending with approximately 14K.
